How To Prepare Yourself To Write An Amazing Blog Post

So, that time has come around again for you to write another amazing blog post that your readers will love.

You think back to your last post and how great the feeling was to see lots of social shares and comments.

It was a small success, to say the least, now it’s time to do it all over again…

It can be done. But, before you commit yourself to write again, check out these three very simple things you can do to prepare yourself better, and just to make your life a little easier.

1. Research first

To avoid falling into the trap of just staring at a blank screen, (we’ve all been there), it is always best to do your homework first.

Think carefully about what you want to write about. If it’s a subject that you’re not too familiar with, or need to learn more about, then do your research first.

If possible, avoid writing anything until you have your research material and resources at hand.

By the time you get around to writing your post, you should be armed with the knowledge of how you’re going to tackle the topic or subject of your post far more effectively.

Plus, you’ll have images, links to resources, data, and maybe even relevant statistics ready to drop into your post and make it awesome.

2. Schedule your time to write

Don’t just grab 10 minutes here, and 20 minutes there to write your blog post. Look at your content calendar, (assuming you use one), and pick a suitable day and time to write your blog post.

Make sure nothing else comes in the way of your time to write. So that means putting everything else on hold during that time.

Scheduling to write your post is important because the last thing you want or need is to be distracted.

Mentally prepare yourself, motivate yourself, inspire yourself to write your post.

3. Find a suitable place or location to write

Next, it’s all about the location, and the tools you bring with you to write your next epic blog post.

So, for the location, find a spot or pick a place where –

  1. You won’t be distracted by needless things.
  2. You won’t be disturbed by other people.
  3. You will feel the most inspired to write.

As for what you need to bring with you, that should be obvious, but just make sure you bring the absolute essentials –

  1. A laptop.
  2. A notepad and pen.
  3. Your research material.
  4. Some kind of music player (If you listen to music while you write).

I love writing blog posts at night locked away in my office. I also like to head down to my local coffee shop to enjoy a few hours of distractive free writing and to enjoy some great coffee too.

I bring my iPhone with me but almost always switch it over to flight mode and I listen to the music I already have downloaded.

That is it!

I could go on with this post and share with you a ton of other useful little tips for preparing yourself to write amazing blog posts, but I’m going to keep it short and sweet, that’s my new goal as you know.

Just follow these simple tips above, and you’ll become the smartest and most organized blog writer you can be.
