There are three critical things that will prevent you from reaching success in blogging. Want to know what they are?
Here goes -
Now, let's take a look at each one of them in a little detail.
Don't tell me you've never compared yourself with another blogger or entrepreneur. We've all done it. I used to do it.
What you have to realize is, especially if you are just starting out, is that you cannot compare your beginnings with someone else's middle or even result. I'm sure you've heard of that expression before.
Blogging is not an overnight process. You're not going to start a blog today and become successful or financially better off tomorrow. Never, ever will that happen.
So, stop comparing yourself with bloggers or entrepreneurs that are reaping the rewards of their labor. Those folks deserve to be where they are. They put in the work already.
Instead, compare the blogger you are today to the blogger you were perhaps six months or even a year ago.
Comparing your progress now with the progress you made previously will give you an indication of how far you've come. And if you've made little to no progress, then you know you've got to do more work.
Well, are you?
I recently started reading a book by Rob Moore titled Start Now, Get Perfect Later. You can find the book here on Amazon.
It's a surprisingly uplifting, motivational, and strategical read. I recommend it to all bloggers or entrepreneurs that have amazing, creative ideas but are waiting around for the perfect moment to execute those ideas.
Again, like comparing yourself with others, the perfect time will never, ever come. It's all about starting now, making things happen now, getting the ball rolling now... increasing your output now and perfecting later.
For years I put off creating my online course in web design. I was waiting for the right time, the perfect time for all the things to fit together. And sadly, I missed a vital opportunity.
I finally decided that enough was enough and I had to get started. In January of next year (2022), I'm finally launching my first online course.
Sure, it's not going to be perfect when it's out there, but things can be tweaked and perfected later on down the line.
As a blogger, you have to change your attitude towards aiming for perfection. Stop waiting for the right moment to launch your blog, or write your eBook, or create your online course.
How can you possibly aim for perfection when you haven't even started on those things?
Oh boy, this is by far the mother of all success killers...
In today's environment, procrastination is tough to avoid. For bloggers and online entrepreneurs, it's even tougher.
As creators, we need access to the internet to be creative at all times, right? At the same time, the same tool we use to build our equities and succeed is also the thing that can pull us away from our goals and objectives.
But procrastination doesn't just happen online. Other things can distract us at the best of times: Television, the home delivery driver who wants to stay and chat, the friend that drops by unannounced and stays for hours on end, text messages that expect a response immediately, phone calls, it's endless...
How do you avoid all of these to stay focused and productive... Don't ask me, I have no idea.
What I can give you are a few words of advice. Be structured, get organized, and create a schedule.
If you don't overcome these habits, you're going to slow down your progress or even halt it altogether. Becoming a successful blogger or online entrepreneur takes a unique mindset. So ask yourself, have you got what it takes to deal with these three things above?
